Dear Sir or Madam.

My name is Paul Thorbjorn and I am a student studying an BA in Television Production at the Grimsby Institute of further and higher education. I have started my final year of university now having already completed two years of my course. For my final year, I will need to produce a six thousand word dissertation and a professional 30 minute documentary about anything of my choice.

During the summer holidays I had currently developed new ideas over what to base my documentary on. I have decided to produce a scientific documentary about the strange theory’s around Quantum Physics. I would like to introduce by explained what Quantum Physics is, at a basic level. This will also lead to it’s theory’s.

My planning for this assignment so far has been very successful. As part of a another project, I will have to produce a 3000 world Market Research Report. I am currently seeking information over what the public would expect and collect from scientific documentaries. As part of my research, I will have to gather the correct information regarding my target audience. It is important that my work will fit the right criteria for marketing purposes.

Could you please provide me with some information by what the public expectations from a scientific or educational based documentary. Could you also please tell me, what are then general target audience for these genres of programming. I have recently watched Parallel Universe, and The Atom, Illusion of Reality. I would every much like to know how these documentaries were created and what viewers are they trying to attract. Also, how important are these documentaries visually? What intensions do the visual effects provide for the audience, apart form scientific knowledge.
