Hi – My name is Alex, I live in NYC with my lovely wife. I’m a ordinary guy who’s been swimming through life “blissfully” oblivious, and who one day woke up and asked himself… “what’s this existence really all about?”
I had a bit of an existential crisis if you will. It was probably the same type of questioning we all do of ourselves at some point.
And if you’re reading this, chances are you might be starting to explore your own “big questions.”
THE PURPOSE OF WAX PHILOSOPHICAL:
To offer people a place where they can ask questions, discuss, and look for answers without the typical baggage.
There’s no agenda here other than to foster spiritual and philosophical discussion about the big questions every scholar, religious leader, scientist or layperson has ever asked.
So the ultimate purpose here is really one of exploration.
Also, I think it’s important to understand why we believe what we believe. And through that knowledge, you begin to understand people as much as you do religion.
I would venture to say that the spiritual “bug” is something most people are born with. “Why are we here?” “What’s our purpose?” “Where are we going?”
These are questions we ALL eventually ask of ourselves. Whether we ever really look for answers depends on how open and fearless we are to explore new ideas.
Many of us are looking for spiritual experiences, but want to do it on our own terms, in our own way.
Many want to feel connected to a higher power without being told that this god is better than that god, or that holy book is better than the other.
That being said, I absolutely believe there’s something to be learned from all belief systems, and so I love learning about and discussing them.
Whether you traditionally adhere to a particular religion (or not), you’re going to understand yourself and your religion a whole lot better if you open yourself to learning about the all the other ones.
So I welcome you to the site and encourage you to subscribe and participate – it’s gonna be fun!
